(Senior) Backend Engineer, Platform
About Wheely
Wheely is redefining premium transportation across major cities in Europe, the US, and the Middle East. We blend cutting-edge technology with the craft of five-star chauffeuring to deliver an experience trusted by more than 100,000 active riders and 1,200 corporate accounts. Weโre a profitable, fast-growing scale-up with $43M raised and over $100M in annual revenue. Having recently launched in New York City, weโre expanding rapidly across the US and EMEA. If you take pride in your craft and want to help shape the next chapter of our growth, we'd love to hear from you.
About the Role
Our Platform team creates the foundation that allows our entire engineering organisation to move fast. This means building shared tooling, managing migrations (including our move from a Ruby monolith), and evolving our infrastructure. Weโre looking for a Mid/Senior Backend Engineer to join a team that keeps frameworks lean and focuses on what matters: clean, maintainable code, shipped fast with TDD, DDD, and continuous integration and delivery. We are a Go shop, and while weโre busy migrating away from our Ruby monolith, our stack includes PostgreSQL, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, Redis, gRPC, and Thrift. Everything runs on AWS and Kubernetes, managed via Terraform. Our interview process includes a recruiter screen, algorithms and live coding. Senior+ candidates also complete a system design section and a structured review of past experience and achievements.
What you'll do
- Write high-quality, performant code primarily in Go.
- Implement new microservices while helping us responsibly manage and migrate away from legacy services.
- Work closely with product managers, designers, and data scientists to turn abstract requirements into concrete technical designs.
- Ensure our systems stay responsive under heavy load, optimising for both latency and reliability.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience (5+ years for seniors) building and maintaining scalable backend services.
- We use Go. If you know it, great. If not, weโll interview you in your strongest language (Python, C++, Java, Ruby, etc.). We hire for engineering fundamentals, not syntax.
- In-depth knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis) and experience with message brokers like RabbitMQ or Kafka.
- Upper-Intermediate (B2) English proficiency or higher.
- You should be comfortable debating technical trade-offs with your peers.
What we Offer
- Office-based role in Nicosia, four days a week with flexible start and finish times, plus one remote day of your choice
- Competitive salary
- Employee stock options plan
- Private medical and dental insurance
- Daily Lunch allowance
- Latest-generation MacBook Pro and 4k display
- Professional development stipend
- Relocation support, including visa sponsorship and allowance
All of your personal information will be collected stored and processed in accordance with Wheelyโs Candidate Privacy Notice

About the company
Formula spends 7-digits budget a month on Meta as the engine of a D2C subscription business in health and weight loss. We are hiring a precise, hands-on UA Manager to take day-to-day Meta operations off the Head of UA, run our automated buying flows cleanly, and grow into Meta Lead within 6โ12 months as automation expands.
What We're Looking For
- A Meta UA practitioner who is genuinely interested in working with automation rather than around it, and who sees an in-house tooling team as leverage, not as a threat to their craft.
- A breadth-n-depth profile โ agency or multi-product publisher backgrounds where many channels, products, and account structures have passed through your hands.
- An independent reader of performance data โ you form your own view of "good vs. bad" from the numbers before someone else tells you.
- A careful operator before a clever strategist โ someone whose default is to QA their own work, name things consistently, and never ship the same mistake twice.
What You'll Be Doing
- Own day-to-day execution of Formula's Meta channel โ campaign setup, creative uploads, budget moves, and live monitoring across our core web funnels.
- Operate and fine-tune our automated buying processes, partnering with engineering on what the next layer of automation should cover.
- Run the manual tests where precision matters most, and produce results that are clean enough to act on without a second pair of eyes.
- Master our internal stack โ in-house BI, Amplitude, Snowflake, Metabase โ and use it to drive your own decisions on scaling, pruning, and the next set of hypotheses.
- Take progressive ownership of the full Meta lifecycle โ campaigns, budgets, hypotheses, creatives โ on the path to Meta Lead within 6โ12 months.
Must Have
- At least 3 years of hands-on Meta Ads experience with minimum $500k spend per month focused on web acquisition funnels (web2app), with sustained operational time in seat.
- Demonstrated attention to detail in setup, naming, tracking, links, and budgets โ repeated operational mistakes are disqualifying for this role.
- Ability to ramp on an unfamiliar internal data stack within three months without a guided tour.
- Independent analytical judgment โ you can look at performance numbers and decide what they mean before being told.
- Fluent Russian-speaker.
Nice to Have
- Performance agency or multi-product publisher (apps, games, subscription) background where breadth of contexts is the norm.
- Experience on at least one of Google Ads, AppLovin, or TikTok Ads.
- Experience working alongside scripts, automation, or in-house buying tools rather than purely inside Ads Manager.
- Active daily use of AI tools for analysis, creative, copy, or workflow automation.
- Working English at B2+ for written internal communication.
Please note, if you haven't worked with at least $500k monthly spend on Meta and don't speak fluent Russian โ we will not be able to consider your application.
What We Offer
- Inspiring Mission: Help users live longer, healthier lives through innovative products.
- Impact: Directly influence company growth with minimal bureaucracy.
- Attractive Compensation: Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
- Work-Life Balance: Flexible working hours.
- Professional Development: Tuition reimbursement.
- Remote Work: Fully remote, with a preference for candidates within ยฑ2 hours of CET.
- Benefits: Health insurance, gym membership reimbursement, home office support.
