Senior Manager, Data Science
What you'll do
- Own high-impact data science work across product data science and fair play. Create and build novel algorithms, models, and data-powered features that directly shape the chess experience for our users, from systems that protect the integrity of the game to features that make Chess.com more engaging and useful for players at every level.
- Partner across the company on product vision and execution. Work closely with product managers, engineers, designers, and writers to translate new stats and algorithms into decisions that power our next generation of features.
- Design and deploy creative heuristics, algorithms, and models that identify cheating at scale using the full depth of your statistical and data science toolkit. Raise the quality and sophistication of our approaches over time.
- Manage a lean team of data scientists. Turn strategy into clear team objectives and results, not just execute direction from leadership. Set the quality bar through your own work and give feedback that inspires teammates to do great work, not just fix the issues of the day. Help data scientists grow into scientists who can operate with more speed and independence over time.
- Communicate early and often. In a fully remote culture, proactive communication is how work actually gets done. Surface blockers before they become problems, keep stakeholders informed without being asked, and make sure your team is never left wondering where things stand.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of data science experience, with a demonstrated track record of developing algorithms and models, contributing to features that shipped, and driving real value for users.
- Strong Python and SQL skills; experience building and working within data pipelines using BigQuery and GCP or similar cloud databases & storage at scale.
- Comfortable with agentic workflows and tools (Cursor, Claude Code or similar) to accelerate research ideation and execution.
- Solid machine learning fundamentals with enough depth to contribute meaningfully to models across the chess data stack, including anomaly detection for fair play and features that support learning and understanding chess at varying rating levels.
- Proven ability to communicate findings clearly to both technical peers and senior non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience managing or meaningfully mentoring other data scientists or analysts.
- Deep familiarity with chess: you like to play, have thought about rating systems and how inflation may impact ratings at scale, want to build products that you would use yourself to further your chess journey, and have done some thinking on the cheating problem and how to detect it.
Preferred Skills
- Experience on a consumer gaming or entertainment platform where domain-specific data science is at the core of the product.
- Comfort working in lean, high-ownership team environments where being proactive is your superpower.
About the Opportunity
- This is a full-time opportunity
- We are 100% remote (work from anywhere!)
- This role is open to candidates who can work with good overlap between Eastern time through Pacific Time zones

About Plurio
Plurio is an AI agent for performance marketing teams. We're not another dashboard or analytics tool โ we're building AI that actually does the work: analyzes campaigns, spots problems, reallocates budgets, and explains what's happening in plain language.
We've raised $4.5M total, with the most recent $3.5M announced in March 2026. We work with marketing teams spending $100Kโ$5M/month on paid ads (Meta, Google, TikTok) โ companies with complex funnels, long conversion chains, subscription and repeat-purchase models, and LTV-driven optimization (think EdTech, FinTech, Consumer Apps, Healthcare, Home Services).
The team is 30+ people, fully remote, and radically AI-first โ everyone works in Cursor with a shared workspace. We don't just sell AI; we run on it.
Why This Role Exists
Plurio's product is built on a backend that has to do two hard things at once: serve fast, reliable APIs to a live SaaS product and crunch large analytical datasets that drive marketing attribution, reports, and the AI agent layer on top.
We're growing the team that builds and evolves those backend services โ C# microservices on top of MS SQL Server. We need engineers who move comfortably between application code (ASP.NET Core, EF Core, async paths, integrations) and the database (T-SQL, schema, indexes, query plans), and who can ship features end-to-end without dropping quality at the boundary between the two.
If shipping solid C# and owning the SQL behind it sounds right โ read on.
What You'll Own
- Backend feature development
Build and extend microservices in ASP.NET Core that power our marketing analytics engine โ APIs, business logic, integrations with ad platforms and downstream consumers. - Database work
Design and evolve schemas, T-SQL, indexes, and queries that support attribution reports and analytical workloads. Read query plans, find regressions, and tune with measurable before/after. - Performance and scale
Drive optimization across the stack โ both in C# (async paths, ORM tuning, batching, caching) and SQL (indexes, statistics, plan stability). Help the platform stay fast as data volume grows. - Architecture and clean engineering
Apply SOLID and design patterns where they earn their keep; keep services small, contracts clear, and migrations safe in a live system. - Quality and operations
Code review, incident analysis, CI/CD with Azure DevOps, Git the way the team does it. AI-assisted coding is part of how we work โ we actively use various AI tools (Cursor, Copilot-class tools, and more) and provide team access to premium services; use them where they improve quality and speed, not as a substitute for judgment. - Collaboration with engineering
Partner with product, data, and AI engineering on data model and service boundaries: migrations, backward compatibility, clear contracts between app and database.
You're the Right Person If
Requirements:
- A minimum of four years of hands-on experience in MS SQL and C# development is required.
- Solid knowledge and application of design patterns and SOLID principles.
- Experience working with Entity Framework Core (or another production ORM in C#).
- Proven proficiency in web development, specifically in ASP.NET Core.
- Experience and interest in AI-assisted coding (we actively use various AI tools and provide team access to premium services).
- Proficiency in using version control systems, particularly Git.
- Intermediate+ English language skills and native-level Russian.
- You live and work in an Americas (US) timezone with reliable overlap on US business hours โ required.
- Providing code examples hosted on Git or other repositories is highly appreciated.
It'd Be a Plus If
- Advanced experience with MS SQL performance tuning (query plans, indexing strategy, columnstore, partitioning).
- Production experience with RabbitMQ, Docker, observability (Grafana, Prometheus), or Azure DevOps.
- Blazor experience.
- Familiarity with marketing attribution concepts โ helpful context; C# and SQL skills come first.
- Public C# or SQL samples on GitHub/GitLab we can read.
What You Can Expect
- Competitive compensation โ aligned with senior backend / SQL experience; specifics discussed individually.
- Remote, Americas timezone: you must be in an Americas (US) timezone and work US business hours. Nearly all clients and core team collaboration run on US time โ timezone overlap is a hard requirement.
- Home office setup: we provide a laptop, software, and any other tools necessary for work.
- Professional development: we cover 50% of the costs of relevant educational activities.
- Vacation: annual leave (twice a year for 2 weeks) + holidays.
- Employment: via Deel contract.
- AI-first engineering culture: we use Cursor, Claude, shared AI infrastructure, and premium team access for coding assistance โ alongside strong C# and SQL craft.
Hiring Process
- Application โ CV + short answers (see below). We aim to respond within 48 hours.
- Intro call (People & Operations, ~30 min) โ company overview, background, motivation, logistics.
- Technical interview โ deep dive on C# / ASP.NET Core / EF Core and MS SQL Server (schema, T-SQL, query plans, real scenarios at the appโDB boundary).
- Final conversation โ culture, ways of working, team fit; may include an additional technical touchpoint if needed.
- Paid trial period โ short, real work, paid.
- Offer โ if it's a fit, we align on terms and start date.
How to Apply
Fill out the application form โ no cover letter, no formalities.

Freelance Growth Marketing Lead
About Toloka
At Toloka AI we create data that powers leading GenAI models and innovations. We work with frontier labs, big tech, renowned AI startups, enterprises and non-profit research organizations worldwide. We use a combination of Experts + Crowd + Tech Platform to teach AI models to reason and evaluate their efficacy and safety. We have experts in more than 50 different domains โfrom doctors and lawyers to physicists and engineersโand boast one of the most diverse global crowds, representing over 100 countries and speaking 40+ languages. We are a well-funded startup with an enviable portfolio of clients including Anthropic, Amazon, Microsoft, Poolside, Recraft, and Shopify. Recently, we secured strategic investment led by Bezos Expeditions and Nebius Group with participation from Mikhail Parakhin, CTO of Shopify and board advisor to leading GenAI companies, who now serves as our Chairman of the Board. Our remote-first team is globally distributed around the world: USA, UK, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Serbia, and more.
About the position
We are looking for a hands-on demand generation leader to own and scale Tolokaโs pipeline engine. This is a GTM role that sits at the intersection of marketing and sales: you will turn a clearly defined Ideal Customer Profile into qualified, sales-ready pipeline through multi-channel campaigns, modern marketing tooling, and tight alignment with our sales and SDR teams. You will own the numbers that matter, which are MQLs, SQLs, meetings booked, and influenced pipeline. You will build the systems, run the experiments, and partner daily with sales to make sure marketing inputs convert into revenue outcomes. This is a builder role for someone who is comfortable going 0 to 1 and then scaling what works.
What youโll do
- Demand generation and campaigns: Plan, build, and run integrated demand generation campaigns across inbound, outbound, paid, email, events, and AI search surfaces. Own the full funnel from first touch to SQL, optimizing for conversion at each stage rather than vanity metrics. Design and run a continuous experimentation program (messaging, audiences, channels, offers) and scale the winners. Build account-based marketing (ABM) programs for priority accounts in partnership with sales.
- ICP definition and audience targeting: Define, refine, and maintain the Ideal Customer Profile and buyer personas in partnership with sales and leadership. Translate the ICP into precise targeting across channels, lists, and segments. Use firmographic, intent, and engagement data to prioritize the accounts and segments most likely to convert. Continuously test and sharpen segmentation as the market and product evolve.
- Sales alignment: Act as the connective tissue between marketing and sales, aligning on definitions, handoff criteria, SLAs, and shared goals. Partner closely with SDRs and AEs so that marketing-generated demand is followed up well and converts efficiently. Run regular pipeline and funnel reviews with sales, and close the loop on lead quality and conversion. Equip the sales team with the campaigns, content, and context they need to convert demand into deals.
- Marketing tooling and automation: Own the demand generation tech stack (CRM, marketing automation, enrichment, intent, outbound, and analytics tools). Build and maintain campaign workflows, lead scoring, routing, and nurture sequences. Use AI-driven automation to scale personalization, content distribution, and campaign operations. Ensure clean data, accurate attribution, and reliable reporting across the funnel.
- Measurement and reporting: Own demand generation reporting and dashboards: pipeline created, pipeline influenced, cost per SQL, conversion rates, and ROI by channel. Report on performance to leadership and use the data to reallocate spend and effort toward what works.
What we're Looking For
- Must-have: 6+ years in demand generation, growth marketing, or GTM marketing, ideally in B2B SaaS or technology, with a track record of building pipeline. Demonstrated 0 to 1 experience building or significantly scaling a demand generation function. Strong command of the full funnel: inbound, outbound, ABM, performance marketing, SEO, and email. Proven ability to define an ICP and translate it into targeting and campaigns that convert. Hands-on experience running marketing tooling end to end (CRM, marketing automation, enrichment, outbound, analytics). A close working relationship with sales and SDR teams, with a shared-pipeline mindset rather than a leads-over-the-wall mindset. Data fluency: comfortable owning conversion metrics, attribution, and experiment design. Clear, measurable results to point to, for example improvements in conversion rates, SQL volume, or pipeline generated.
- Nice-to-have: Experience marketing to technical or AI/ML audiences, foundation-model labs, or enterprise AI teams. Familiarity with emerging discovery surfaces (AEO and GEO) alongside traditional SEO. Experience building and leading small cross-functional teams (marketing plus SDR). Comfort using generative AI tools to scale content and campaign operations.
