We invite a Senior DataOps Engineer with experience to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will architect and maintain cutting-edge data solutions that address the maritime industry's pressing challenges.
Collaborating with a dedicated team of Data Engineers, you will champion data management, uphold the integrity of key datasets, and bolster our commitment to robust data governance. Major Responsibilities ย
- Lead the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure, setting standards for automation, security, and performance.
- Collaborate with the Head of Data Engineering to define and drive the DataOps strategy in alignment with business priorities.
- Mentor and guide junior DataOps Engineers, conducting code reviews, knowledge sharing sessions, and technical deep-dives.
- Architect and optimize modular, reusable, and scalable workspaces in line with enterprise data governance principles.
- Promote best practices across data versioning, data lineage, testing, observability, and access controls.
- Take ownership of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions, with a focus on continuous improvement, cost-efficiency, and operational excellence.
- Partner with Data Engineering, Analytics, and IT teams to ensure reliable, performant, and secure data flows across environments
- Act as a subject matter expert for Unity Catalog, data sharing, and cloud-native permission management.
- Engage with customers and partners to ensure data contracts, network configurations, and security requirements are met.
- Drive monitoring and alerting solutions to ensure platform reliability and operational visibility.
- Document architectural decisions, operational runbooks, and support onboarding of new engineers.
- Stay abreast of emerging DataOps technologies, sharing recommendations to maintain RightShipโs edge in data engineering practices.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's or Masterโs degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience in a DataOps, DevOps, or Data Engineering role, ideally in a cloud-native and data-driven environment.
- Demonstrated experience building and scaling CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps preferred).
- Proven experience with a cloud-based Lakehouse platform such as Databricks, Fabric or Snowflake.
- Azure experience is advantageous but not required.
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred) and automation principles.
- Strong skills in T-SQL, Git-based version control, and Python scripting.
- Deep understanding of data governance and security frameworks, especially in relation to Unity Catalog or similar platforms.
- Experience managing production-grade Spark (PySpark) workloads and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with the concept of a Data as a Product
- Experience with setting up a self service platform.
- Proven ability to work across geographies and time zones in a collaborative, cross-functional team.
- Comfortable operating independently, with excellent problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
