Senior ML Research Scientist โ€“ AI & Generative Recommendation (m/f/d)

Whatโ€™s in It for You?

At adjoe, youโ€™re not here to just close JIRA tickets, youโ€™re helping build the infrastructure behind one of the most impactful platforms in adtech. The systems you work on will reach hundreds of millions of users and power billions of decisions every day.

  • Go Big. Own projects with impact on 770M users and push adtech boundaries.
  • Move Fast. Ship solutions multiple times a day, learn from results, and keep momentum.
  • Be Direct. Solve problems openly and collaborate across teams.
  • Thrive Together. Grow with a diverse, global team of people from over 40 different countries that learn from each other.
  • Have Fun. Celebrate wins, enjoy daily victories, and bring your energy.

Your Mission & Who We Are Looking For:

PhD or equivalent research depth, with a production track record. You have a PhD in CS, Statistics, Math, or Physics, or an MSc with extensive industry research, and publications in top-tier venues like SIGIR, KDD, NeurIPS, or ICLR. You've spent 4+ years building large-scale recommender systems in high-throughput environments: AdTech, e-commerce, or social.

You translate research into production, not just prototypes. You distill SOTA research into robust, production-ready code optimized for sub-millisecond latency. At adjoe, that means architecting multi-stage recommendation pipelines, Generative Retrieval, Deep Ranking, and Re-ranking, serving millions of requests across a stack built on 770 million users' behavioral data.

Deep expertise in PyTorch and large-scale model optimization. You have hands-on experience with high-concurrency optimization, model quantization, and distillation, the engineering side of getting large generative models to run under extreme production constraints, not just in research environments.

Content understanding and embeddings are core to your work. You research and develop information-rich user and ad embeddings using unsupervised and generative approaches, directly improving the quality of predictions across both Playtime and adjoe Ads.

Raises the technical bar around them. You lead architectural debates, mentor junior scientists, and drive the team's research direction without needing a roadmap handed to you.

Whatโ€™s the Team & Tech Stack?

The Data Science Research team builds foundational ML representations and advanced AI capabilities that enhance both Playtime and adjoe Ads. It leverages generative approaches to deliver systems such as high-dimensional user embeddings, general content understanding, and sequential recommendation. The stack focuses on deep learning and heavy data throughput: PyTorch and [Ray/Hugging Face] for training/fine-tuning foundation models, Trino and Athena for querying massive user-behavior data lakes, and dedicated GPU infrastructure.

Location & Benefits

We welcome applications from talent worldwide and provide relocation support to Hamburg, Germany for those ready to join our team.

โ€ข Proven ability to drive architecture, mentor others, and operate without a fixed roadmap.

Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent research depth with production track record (or MSc with extensive industry research).
  • 4+ years building large-scale recommender systems in high-throughput environments.
  • Deep expertise in PyTorch and large-scale model optimization (quantization, distillation).
  • Experience with Generative Retrieval, Deep Ranking, Re-ranking, and multi-stage pipelines.
  • Strong knowledge of embeddings and content understanding.

Qualifications

Senior MLOps Engineer (f/m/d)

Location: Hamburg

Employment Type: Full time

Department: adjoe

adjoe builds the technologies behind mobile apps growth and monetization. With our core product Playtime Arcade, we've become the global leader in rewarded advertising, an ad unit built on a simple premise: users earn real in-app rewards for engaging with new apps. The result is one of the most effective value exchanges in adtech, connecting advertisers and publishers with over 770 million users annually.

Architecting Intelligence to Optimize 200M+ Daily Decisions

As the intelligence core of our engineering organization, our Data Science team doesn't just deploy models, we engineer the fundamental decision engine that powers our platform. At a scale of 770 million users and 100,000+ predictions per second, we are solving a multi-objective optimization problem that balances user incentives, advertiser ROI, and long-term platform health in real time.

Our architecture is built on a 1PB+ behavioral data lake, providing the high-fidelity input necessary to train deep learning models that predict individual user engagement with precision. We aren't just optimizing clicks, we are dynamically calculating optimal reward structures to sustain a global value exchange.

Engineered for performance, our stack leverages Tensorflow and PyTorch for model training, NVIDIA Triton to achieve sub-100ms inference. We own the full ML lifecycle from high-level research and feature engineering to deployment and A/B experimentation. Here, you will find the autonomy, the data depth, and the massive scale required to solve the most complex optimization challenges in the adtech ecosystem.

Your Mission & Who We Are Looking For:

  • MLOps at production scale. You have 5+ years in MLOps or ML Engineering with a track record of deploying and maintaining models in high-traffic environments. At adjoe, that means keeping models fresh and performant across 2 billion+ daily requests, where decay in model quality directly impacts user experience and advertiser KPIs.
  • Continuous Training & Automation. You design and manage CT pipelines and scheduling logic to ensure models stay current as new data flows in. You understand the end-to-end ML lifecycle well enough to know when a model needs retraining.
  • Observability is part of the system, not an afterthought. You build monitoring systems that catch data skew, distribution shifts, and performance decay in production, using frameworks like Evidently, with alerts integrated directly into production pipelines.
  • Low-latency serving under heavy load. You wrap deep learning models into production APIs and lead load testing to validate performance at scale. You're proficient in serving frameworks like Triton, ONNX Runtime, or TF Serving, and use deep-dive resource profiling to guide efficiency and optimization.
  • ML platform ownership. You work with infrastructure teams to architect the ML platform, automated access to CPU/GPU clusters via Kubernetes, Docker, and orchestration tools like Airflow or Kubeflow, so data scientists can focus on models, not infrastructure.
  • Plus: AdTech industry background. You understand how ad delivery systems work and the business logic underneath.

๐ŸŒŽ We welcome applications from talent worldwide and provide relocation support to Hamburg, Germany for those ready to join our team.

Whatโ€™s in It for You?

We welcome applications from people who will contribute to the diversity of our company.

Description

TuxCare is a subsidiary of CloudLinux. It offers a portfolio of security solutions for Linux and open-source software aimed at enterprise organisations. With TuxCare, enterprises can automate live vulnerability patching, minimise downtime, keep their applications secure and compliant, and get support from a team that knows Linux security best โ€” covering the most popular Linux distributions, end-of-life systems, programming languages, and much more.

For more information, visit our website: https://tuxcare.com/

One of TuxCare's key products is Endless Lifecycle Support (ELS), which enables organisations to securely continue using Linux distributions and software languages that have reached end of life or no longer receive standard security updates. ELS delivers vulnerability patches for unsupported versions of CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian, Oracle Linux, as well as for runtimes and frameworks such as PHP, Python, Spring, Angular/AngularJS, Django, and Flask.

More details: https://tuxcare.com/endless-lifecycle-support/

Product documentation: https://docs.tuxcare.com/els-for-runtimes/

We're looking for a Head of QA who can transform a technically capable but operationally strained QA team into a strategic, AI-powered quality engineering function. This is the opportunity to fundamentally rethink how we assure quality at scale โ€” across Linux package testing, multi-distro coverage, and a growing CI/CD automation footprint.

Work is fully remote, with flexible hours, where you can plan your day and work from anywhere in the world.

What You'll Own

  1. Strategy & Architecture:
    • Define key product quality metrics and build a strategic multi-quarter QA roadmap
    • Execute the defined QA roadmap and hold the team accountable to it
    • Expand test coverage systematically: prioritise by risk and customer impact, not by noise
    • Own the test system infrastructure and the resource strategy
    • Drive adoption of AI tooling across the QA function โ€” from test generation to failure triage
  2. People & Execution:
    • Build a team culture focused on heavy AI and automation usage
    • Restructure on-duty rotation so it's equitable and sustainable
    • Mentor SDETs from "test writers" to "product quality engineers" who own subsystems end-to-end
    • Create clear career growth paths within the QA function
    • Collaborate closely with developers; translate quality signals into actionable development priorities

Tech Stack

  • Test Framework โ€” pytest, Python, Playwright (emerging)
  • Scripting โ€” Bash / Shell (package environments, multi-distro testing)
  • CI/CD โ€” Jenkins, GitLab CI (migration target)
  • Infrastructure โ€” OpenNebula, KubeVirt, Docker, Ansible, S3/Ceph
  • Reporting โ€” Allure Framework, Redash / ClickHouse
  • Communication โ€” Slack, Jira

Requirements

Must Have
  • 5+ years in test automation; 2+ years leading a QA team of 3+ engineers
  • Deep experience with Linux-based product testing: RPM/DEB packages, systemd, multi-distro matrix
  • Strong Python skills โ€” the entire test framework and tooling is Python
  • Proven track record of dramatically improving test reliability and coverage metrics
  • Experience building or integrating AI/ML into QA workflows โ€” not theoretical, show what you shipped
  • CI/CD pipeline architecture experience (Jenkins Pipelines; GitLab CI migration is upcoming)
  • Fluent in Linux CLI and shell scripting โ€” package environments require comfort at the system level
  • English โ€” Upper-Intermediate (B2) or higher
Must Demonstrate
  • Strategic thinking: you see the system, not just the ticket; you plan quarters, not just sprints
  • Delegation instinct: you build processes that distribute and track ownership, not a single point of failure
  • Data-driven execution: you measure, set targets, and hold teams accountable to metrics
  • Strategic initiative: you proactively propose and drive improvements โ€” you don't wait for problems to be assigned
  • Automation bias: if a human does something daily (like a nightly report), it should be automated โ€” period
Nice to Have
  • VM orchestration or cloud infrastructure testing experience
  • Experience testing security patches and package updates, including kernel-level patches for Linux distributions
  • Experience with multi-distro Linux testing matrices at scale
  • Hands-on experience with Linux packaging ecosystems (RPM, DEB, APK), repository management, and security advisory formats (OVAL, CSAF)
  • Hands-on understanding of vulnerability lifecycle: CVE intake, patch validation, regression testing of security fixes, advisory generation (OVAL / CSAF) โ€” you'll be testing patches, not features

Benefits

What's in it for you
  • A focus on professional development
  • Interesting and challenging projects
  • Fully remote work with flexible working hours โ€” schedule your day and work from any location worldwide
  • Paid 24 days of vacation per year, 10 days of national holidays, and unlimited sick leave
  • Compensation for private medical insurance
  • Co-working and gym/sports reimbursement
  • Budget for education
  • The opportunity to receive a reward for the most innovative idea that the company can patent
