The Trading Support Tools team is a dynamic team within the trading department, building services that empower first-line support agents and improve the overall client experience. What you'll actually do
- During refinement and sprintโplanning meetings, define scope, test approach, and acceptance criteria ahead of development, ensuring estimates include both manual and automated work.
- Prepare and configure test environments (data, mocks, feature flags) and then execute functional, regression, and exploratory tests; log actionable defects with clear steps to reproduce.
- Design, implement, and maintain UI, API, e2e, and integration tests in the shared framework, adhering to testโdesign techniques (equivalence classes, boundary values).
- Maintaining effective test suites.
- Act as an active contributor to the automation framework: add new modules (reporting plugโins, service mocks), refactor legacy code for scalability, review flaky tests, and drive improvements in stability and coverage, ensuring the framework remains reliable, efficient, and valuable for the whole team.
- Integrate automated checks into GitLabโฏCI; monitor pipelines, analyse failures quickly, and collaborate with DevOps to keep feedback loops short.
- Participate in production deployments; trigger and monitor postโdeploy acceptance tests on production, confirm key user journeys with real data, and give go/noโgo feedback to stakeholders.
- Provide a daily status that separates manual and automated results, highlights blockers and risks, and suggests preventive actions.
- Work closely with developers, DevOps, designers, and product owners throughout the sprint to maintain a shared understanding of quality goals.
- Share test findings in grooming and demo sessions.
- Mentors team members in quality engineering.
- Establish and maintain quality standards across all stages of the SDLC.
- Support testing of larger, cross-team features and lead integration testing when needed.
Who weโre looking for
- Bachelorโs or Masterโs degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- ISTQBโฏFoundation or similar certificates are a plus.
- 5+ years of proven experience as a Quality Assurance Engineer in backend and frontend application testing.
- Strong knowledge of the testing process, methodologies, approaches, and test design techniques (e.g., boundary values, equivalence classes).
- Experience in automation with Python (e.g., Pytest) and willingness to work with Go as the primary language for test automation.
- Hands-on experience with UI and API testing using tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Postman, or Insomnia.
- Practical experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of SQL for querying and aggregating data across multiple tables.
- Good understanding of REST APIs, HTTP protocol (request/response structure, status codes), and common web service patterns.
- Experience working with Git, Docker, and CI/CD systems such as GitLab CI.
- Familiarity with logs and metrics analysis tools (e.g., Graylog, Grafana).

1) Strategy & System

This fully remote role is for a Senior Backend Engineer to help grow AppFollow globally. Youโll work on core backend systems that power user interaction with product data, enable fast and efficient access to source-agnostic datasets, and support flexible analytics and reporting capabilities across multiple data types.
About the Role
- Develop and optimize core backend functionality of the AppFollow product
- Build and maintain systems for user interaction with product data
- Design, develop, and support a source-agnostic data storage layer that enables efficient, fast, and reliable data delivery to end users
- Develop and support systems for generating insights from various types of customer and product data (including ratings, reviews, and other data sources), with a focus on flexible and custom reporting
- Support internal and public APIs for core data entities, following API-first principles
- Design, build, maintain and document an efficient, testable, reliable, secure and scalable codebase.
- Contribute with other developers to design and improve the entire system architecture.
- Interaction with legacy services
- Collaborating with the Platform team to deploy the application to various environments and ensure smooth operation, adopt accepted standards, practices and processes to the maintainable systems.
About you
- 5+ years of software development experience in backend
- 3+ years of asyncio experience in Python development.
- Proficiency in FastAPI for API endpoint development.
- Strong SQL skills, particularly in MySQL or PostgreSQL, Experience with ORM frameworks (preferably SQLAlchemy
- Experience with NoSQL DBs (MongoDB)
- Experience with message-brokers (RabbitMQ, Kafka)
- Experience with unit testing (Pytest).
- Upper intermediate English proficiency
It would be nice to have
- Experience with cloud-based services (AWS)
- API-first experience: designing, building, and evolving systems with well-defined, stable, and consumer-oriented APIs
- Experience with GraphQL
- Experience with long-running migrations or large-scale refactorings in complex or legacy codebases

The position
You'll be joining a team of engineers across Frontend, Backend, SRE and QA. We're organised into cross-functional development teams assigned to specific verticals.
This role is open for several teams, and we will define the exact team that you will be joining during the interview process based on the business needs and your preferences.
Regardless of the specific team, you will be working on building tools, APIs and integrations for one of our products.
Our backend is built with Elixir and Phoenix, with a Postgres database. We use React and Nextjs for our front-end. Gitlab is used as a version control tool, issue tracker and a CI/CD solution. Our applications are hosted on AWS. We fully rely on our CI for deployments and deploy multiple times per day.

- Significant experience as a Backend Engineer working with Elixir, which includes building, shipping and maintaining a complicated software project
- Postgres (or similar)
- CI/CD (GitLab, Github, Jenkins or similar)

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of major team-scoped projects, participate in cross-team initiatives
- Actively participate in product work in the team: provide feedback, suggest solutions to the problems. Use technical insights and expertise to suggest product improvements
- Maintain good understanding of the teamโs domain, both from product and engineering sides
- Provide feedback on code reviews
- Contribute to the shared codebase
- Debug and solve technical and business issues
- Participate in non-team activities, such as support rotations, hiring process, RFC discussions, etc
- Mentor and provide guidance to other engineers
- Investigate, propose and participate in implementation of improvements to our platform
- Design and implement APIs with performance, scalability, and maintainability in mind
