Team, about the role

Playrix games serve over 150 million players, which requires reliable and scalable server solutions capable of handling massive loads. The Cross-Game Server teamdevelops universal backend services for Playrix games. We create critical solutionsโ€”ranging from services essential for any product (such as push notifications and GDPR-compliant user data processing) to game features like matchmaking, player profiles, clans, and anti-cheat systems. Developing universal services for all games enables faster rollout of new features and helps maintain a high level of quality in Playrix games.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of 7 people, responsible for efficient delivery, technical product quality (strategy, architecture), and driving key product and technical initiatives at the department level.

Tasks

  • Team management of 7 people:
    • People management: 1:1s, development, evaluation and feedback, onboarding.
    • Delivery: responsible for the teamโ€™s effective delivery and leading production processes.
  • Managing technical product quality: strategy and vision, task prioritization, planning.
  • Leading product and technical initiatives: requirements gathering, collaboration with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams, solution design, decomposition and estimation, driving the initiative to completion.
  • Service architecture design according to product requirements.

Our first solution to market has been a digital product that enables team-based primary healthcare. Healthforce has been rolled out to 450 clinic rooms across South Africa so far, including all DisChem clinics. Over 1 million nurse consultations and 115,000 telemedicine doctor consultations have been captured on the system. The second product Healthforce is delivering, is a direct to consumer app that allows a person to speak to a nurse, doctor or mental health professional directly from their phone. Information is gathered through chat, voice and video and diagnosis or counselling is provided. Our need is to grow our clinical team that provides the healthcare services to patients.

The role:

The Doctor Clinician will deliver healthcare services to patients that require care on our direct-to-consumer healthcare application.   • Answering questions around medical conditions, medications or whether an individual needs more urgent care

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience in full-stack WordPress development in a senior capacity.
  • Expert-level knowledge of WooCommerce. You must have proven experience building custom WooCommerce extensions, heavily customizing its core functionalities, and managing complex e-commerce sites.
  • Deep proficiency in PHP, with a strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles.
  • Thorough understanding of the WordPress ecosystem, including the theme/plugin architecture, the WordPress REST API, action/filter hooks, custom post types, and the block editor (Gutenberg).
  • Strong skills in front-end technologies: HTML5, CSS3 (Sass/Less), and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
  • Proficiency with MySQL, including the ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries directly.
  • Proficient with version control (Git) and modern development workflows (staging/production environments).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing custom blocks for the Gutenberg editor.
  • Familiarity with a modern JavaScript framework like React or Vue.js.
  • Experience with modern front-end build tools (e.g., Webpack, Vite).
  • Knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG).
  • Experience with headless WordPress architectures.
  • Familiarity with managed WordPress hosting environments (e.g., Kinsta, WP Engine) and basic CI/CD principles.
