At Replika, growth isnโ€™t a maybeโ€”itโ€™s built in. Do the work. Deliver. Seriously. We are Replika. We move fast. Very. Join us at the forefront of emotional AI.

Replika is an AI companion loved by 40M+ users around the world. Weโ€™re redefining what it means to connect with technology โ€” emotionally, intelligently, and personally. From mobile to VR, weโ€™re building an experience that feels less like software and more like someone who gets you.

Weโ€™ve been featured in TED Talks, Stanford and Harvard studies, the Lex Fridman podcast. All for one reason: people connect with Replika in a deeply human way.

We're scaling fast and taking on bold challenges to become the most human AI on the planet.

Despite our global reach and ambitious goals, we are not a large organization. We operate as a fast, lean startup, fueled by a small, tight-knit team of highly experienced engineers. This is an environment where you can make a real impact, and we want you to be a part of it.

About the role

Weโ€™re looking for a Software Engineer (AI Platform) to design and scale the systems powering Replikaโ€™s emotional AI. In this role, you'll work at the intersection of software engineering and AI, collaborating directly with the product team to ship new features to millions of users. We care about your impact, not your title.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build an app that delivers real-time emotional AI experiences at scale (sub-second latency for millions of requests).
  • Integrate with LLMs providers, run open-weights models on our GPU clusters, help fine-tune our own LLMs.
  • Participate in design reviews, set technical direction, and ensure scalability and reliability of applied AI services.
  • Optimize for global growth: high-availability systems, replication, cost-effective API integrations, and scalable embeddings search.

Requirements

  • Expertise in Python. You can think in terms of syscalls, memory allocation, and network protocols. You can dissect Python's asyncio event loop on a whiteboard, and can engineer around the GIL.
  • A strong background in backend development. Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures.
  • At ease with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD and cloud platforms.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience building systems that leverage LLMs.
  • Mastery of system and software design patterns.
  • You are a force multiplier for the team. You identify problems, propose robust solutions, and execute with velocity and a sense of ownership. You are hands-on, curious, and obsessed with building things that work, scale, and last.

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience in B2C organizations.
  • Prior exposure to conversational AI, gaming, or social platforms.
  • Scala or other JVM languages.

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive salary.
  • Flexible job schedule and generous vacation policy.
  • Unlimited access to the latest AI coding assistants.
  • No corporate bs.
  • Direct impact: Your work on projects will directly impact millions of worldwide users within months.
  • Push the boundaries of applied AI in a consumer setting.
  • Fully remote across EMEA.
